Discussion with HQ Company on Ways to Expand Korea-Philippines Exchanges and Private-Sector Economic Cooperation
August 26, 2026 | Manila, Philippines — The Chairman of The Korea-Philippines Association visited the HQ Company Manila Office and exchanged views with HQ Company CEO, Yongsoo Cho on ways to expand exchanges between the two countries and strengthen private-sector economic cooperation.
This visit is meaningful in that, based on the long-standing friendly relationship between Korea and the Philippines, companies and civil society organizations are jointly seeking new opportunities for cooperation. In particular, both sides exchanged broad views on expanding exchanges in the economic and industrial sectors, the entry of Korean companies into the Philippines and the establishment of local networks, and the promotion of cooperation at the private sector level between the two countries.
HQ Company introduced the various businesses it is pursuing locally in the Philippines and its future business direction, expressing its intention to further strengthen its role as a practical business platform connecting Korea and the Philippines.
In particular, the site of this visit also houses symbols related to the Knights of Rizal, who carry on the spirit of the Philippines’ national hero, José Rizal, highlighting the importance of not only economic cooperation between the two countries but also exchanges in history, culture, and people.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1949, Korea and the Philippines have developed a long-standing friendly relationship, and in 2024 the relationship between the two countries was elevated to a Strategic Partnership. Recently, the scope of cooperation has been expanding to include not only trade, investment, and economic cooperation, but also various other fields such as digital innovation, culture, and education.
CEO Cho said, “Building on this visit, we will further strengthen the private network between Korea and the Philippines and continue to create practical opportunities for cooperation that connect businesses and institutions. Based on the trust and friendly relationship between the two countries, we will contribute to building a long-term partnership.”
It is expected that this meeting will serve as a new link in expanding economic, cultural, and private-sector cooperation between the Korea-Philippines Association and HQ Company.
