In a significant move towards sustainable energy, HQ Company Special Energy Philippines has entered a Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with the Zamboanga Ecozone Freeport Authority. This partnership, formalized on July 24, 2023, marks a pivotal step in the region’s efforts to harness renewable energy, particularly through solar power.

A New Chapter in Renewable Energy

Formerly known as SungGwang Solar Power Engineering Services Inc., HQ Company has rebranded to align with its parent company in Japan. Under the leadership of Mr. Yongsoo Samuel Cho, the CEO and President, the company aims to contribute significantly to the energy landscape in the Philippines.

The Power Supply Agreement

The PSA entails a robust commitment to provide 20 megawatts (MW) of solar energy, split between local supply and broader distribution. Of this, 5 MW is designated exclusively for ZamboEcozone locators, ensuring that local businesses benefit directly from this green initiative. The remaining 15 MW will be sold to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), supporting the national energy supply.

Local Impact and Future Prospects

This agreement not only promises to boost local energy availability but also plays a crucial role in the Philippines’ transition to renewable energy sources. As the nation grapples with energy demands and environmental challenges, initiatives like this highlight a proactive approach to sustainable growth.

The signing ceremony, held at the ZamboEcozone office, signifies a collaborative effort between the local government and private sector to foster a greener future. With solar energy at the forefront, the potential for economic development and environmental stewardship is immense.

As HQ Company Special Energy Philippines embarks on this solar journey, the impact on Zamboanga’s ecozone and beyond is anticipated to be transformative. This partnership is a beacon of hope for communities striving for a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.

Stay tuned as we follow the developments of this exciting project and its implications for renewable energy in the region.
